    We're finally catching up with the rest of the country, here in Cali. With temps over 100 last week and the week prior, I was ready to ditch my beloved state for cooler weather. I was never so happy to see Monday, as it cooled down by 30 degrees! Now that I am no longer melting, and loving this gorgeous weather; here are a few go to casual outfits for Fall. 

    I am such a chunky sweater kind of person. This sweater by Ralph Lauren comes in quite a few different colors, but I just love it in cream. It's screaming my name!

    This photo always makes me smile. A little over two years ago, just shortly after my beloved dog, Ricky passed away, we had our suspicions Lucy might be pregnant. I prayed she wasn't, as I wasn't ready for another dog. It was way too soon for me, or so I thought.

    It's funny when they were born, I couldn't imagine my life without them. I figured everyone wanted to see the millions of pictures, and videos I took of them. I wasn't the easiest to deal with when it came to them being adopted. I of course wanted to keep them, especially since we almost lost the male when he was 5 weeks old. Two were born deceased, and the runt we bottle fed for two days passed away when we left for a couple hours. I'd become so attached, especially since we'd experienced so much loss in the last few years. I wanted MY babies to have the best home where they'd be loved, and get the attention they so deserve.

    When my neighbor's son adopted one, and his friend the other, I figured I'd see them every now and then...I never fathomed that the puppy would move in with my neighbor (a few months ago.) I get to see this precious face (on the right) waiting at our rural barbed wire fence daily to see me or hang out with his Mama. My neighbor jokes about getting him a dog house at the fence as this is where he prefers to be. When Lucy hears him cry or bark when she's in our house, she growls in fear something is happening to her baby. If I ask, "where's your baby?? or say "Go get Max"...she runs full blast to see him. Oh and if he doesn't listen, you can rest assured he gets a firm growl. Believe it or not, two years later, he still listens to his mama!

    This past weekend, her (Lucy's) daughter was visiting next door. Even she, the one we never see, sat at the fence with her bro waiting for us. God knew in 2007 what he was doing. He also knew in 2009. Have a great weekend. It's the simple things in life that matter most!

    I have been obsessed with this color for as long as I can remember. Is it teal? Sapphire blue? Cobalt? Midnight Blue? Prussian? This I may never know.

It's been a difficult search, but I've narrowed it down to a few of my favorites.

West Coast Fashion Mecca

    West Hollywood is quickly becoming the Fashion Mecca of the West Coast. The city spanning less than 2 miles is fun, gorgeous and a perfect shopping escape. With designer boutiques such as Stella McCartney, Badgley Mischka, Balenciaga, and Catherine Malandrino (to name a few) keeping shop, it's no wonder Christian Louboutin decided on West Hollywood as the new location of his new boutique slated to open this fall.

Candi & Rose on Gardening

    My mom, Rose (perfect name for her) has always had a green thumb. She's always been known for her English roses, sweet peas, dahlias, and hydrangeas (to name a few) with family and friends, but now thanks to blogland, and etsy, the world is getting to see her beautiful flowers and gorgeous bouquets. We've decided with the help of my photos and her gardening expertise to create a post dedicated to gardening. We haven't decided how often we'll post, but we're looking forward to our joint venture! Our information is based on us being on the west coast, but if you have any questions on gardening, please don't hesitate to ask and we'll see to answer it to the best of our ability!

    Recognize these flowers in the photo? If you said Sweet Peas, you're correct!  Here in Northern California, they bloom in April, May and often times into June. Unfortunately due to the extreme heat we often get here in the valley, they tend to die off rather quickly. The seeds are planted in Mid September in raised flower beds, by digging a trench about 1 inch deep. Prior to planting, they must be kept in a dish with water (for 12-24 hours). Make sure and keep them as moist as much as possible once planted, and you will have an abundant crop this coming SPRING!

    This past week I had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing World Acclaimed celebrity stylist to the Stars, Phillip Bloch, to go over trends we'll be seeing on the red Carpet at The 61st Emmys this coming Sunday, September 20th, and to announce his fab Red Carpet contest with Star Magazine and Maidenform Flexee's for the chance to meet him, be made over, and walk the red carpet in LA!

    "The people with Flexee's Fat Free Dressings got together with Star Magazine and myself and we put this whole package together because I wanted people to have the full Hollywood Experience!" Phillip Bloch

    When asked about trends we'll be seeing on the Red Carpet, Phillip stated "We're seeing a lot of neon, pop colors. During Fashion week there was a lot of hot pink, citrusy yellow, almost day glow colors. They look great in gowns, but when people try to translate them into everyday wear- I don't want to see anyone looking like a hot mess in hot pink from head to toe- use it as an accessory color, that punch, a blast of color, use it as a great hot pink shoe in patent leather or something. A great pink bag, a yellow bag. I think they are great pop colors when you're wearing all brown, all navy, or all dark green. When you're wearing these deep all fall colors, it's really fun to throw that splash of color in there."

If you aren't ready to fully take the pink plunge, a cute hot pink pedicure is always fun. In fact this is the color I'm sporting on my toes at this very second. I bought the color as I think I'll be using it into Winter!

    White was seen everywhere at this years Oscars but Phillip doesn't see any one color making that big of an impact on the red carpet. He states "We're definitely seeing a lot of nudes and creams and champagnes. I think that's coming in for Spring 2010. I don't know if it'll actually make it to the red carpet. I think we're going to see a lot of these pops of neon. I think more importantly we're seeing a lot of embellishment. A lot of statement necklaces are going to be very in, big opulent necklaces or a lot of bangles. It's going to be one thing or the other. It's not about over excessive jewelry, it's not about tiny jewelry, but it's about the statement pieces that make an outfit."

    I've always been curious to know what a stylist chooses first, the gown or the accessories when styling for a big event. Little did I know that the stylist chooses the shape wear prior to picking either one. The ever-so-sweet Bloch informed me that "You've got to put the shape wear on! We put the Flexees perfect shapewear on for Fat Free Dressing. No lumps, No bumps! It's you but better. I think as a stylist, I always want my client to look like themselves, but even better. You want to keep them smooth. A lot of metallics are very in, asymmetrics are very in, the silvers are very in. I think it's very important to separate the best from the hips, from the waist and keep everything looking flat, and toned. I'm not saying not curvy, because I love a size 10, size 12, curvy girl. I love me Chandra Wilson, Beyonce. I like a curvy girl, but you want no lumps, no bumps!"

    It was interesting to hear who he has styled, and who his favorites are. "I love Beyonce, I just love Beyonce, she's such a class act. She's so sweet. She's so sincere." Phillip went on to say.

   Bloch listed Jessica Simpson as another favorite. "I just love Jessica Simpson, Halle Berry is one of my favorites. Forest Whitaker's wife, Keisha (Nash) is a real "it" girl, fashion girl, she's one of my best, best friends. The big stars that are clients- I'd really like to say Beyonce, Halle, Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz. I just love too many girls! Lady Gaga's really fun, and she actually wears Flexee's to perform in. For $30, she pus on a Flexee's tank or a Flexees tummy tucker, and she wears it to perform in. Nowadays the technology that we have in fashion makes fashion not only fashionable, but functional. People don't want to spend a lot of money to look good nowadays. Now more than ever all us "recessionistas" want to look good and not spend a lot of money."

NY Fashion Week- Christopher Drummond Looks & Beauty Tips

Season four Project Runway Finalist, Jillian Lewis debuted her Spring-Summer 2010 line at NY Fashion Week (this week) and hired makeup artist, Christopher Drummond to beautify the lovely ladies. Drummond's trademark "nude peach" made him perfect for this show, as this years trend is the light, fresh face compared to last years overly done made-up look.

    Approximately four years ago, my mom and I walked into a shop called Topia Home in the Gold Rush town of Sutter Creek, in Northern California and fell head over heels with the adorable shop. Little did we know, the owner, Marcy would quickly become as great a friend. She and my mom bonded over their mutual adoration of roses, and I tried to bribe her into selling her vintage turquoise cabinet. I'm sorry to say my bribery didn't work, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed! About a year after opening her gorgeous home decor, clothing and accessories boutique, she moved down the street to a larger space.

    Sutter Creek is 45 minutes east of Sacramento, 2 hours east of San Francisco, and approximately 2 hours west of Lake Tahoe. It's a great little town with gorgeous original architecture from the mid 1800's, fab boutiques, fun eateries, and wineries less than 30 minutes away! Amador County is quickly becoming one of the top wine regions in California. I highly suggest you spend the day shopping in Sutter Creek, head up to the wineries, and stay at one of the beautiful Bed & Breakfasts, the region has to offer.

The Best Bedding On Earth- Lazybones Australia

When I decided to redecorate my bedroom over a year ago, I thought this would be a fun and easy little project. I never fathomed that it would take me this long to decide what colors I liked, what design fit me best, goodness when I first started I didn't even like antiques. Things have changed, my bedroom is an antique paradise, I finally have the purple bedroom I desired since early childhood (but subconsciously didn't know I wanted anymore) and little did I know by finding one piece of the puzzle, it would finally come together.

Everything changed when I opened the Anthropologie catalog, and found this gem!

 

I love the regal plum color, and the Rosettes. I knew right then and there, that decorating around this gorgeous bedding was what I was going to do.

When I received my new bedding, I instantly fell in love. It's designed by Tracey Hocking of Lazybones which is located in Australia. Besides being the most gorgeous bedding I have ever laid eyes on, it's so comfortable it definitely makes you lazy. I contacted the company to let them know how much I love their product, and fell for everything else they create and carry. Stay tuned as Anthropologie will be getting a new color (in the Rosette bedding) in stores and online this coming December, just in time for the holidays!

Though the Rosette Bedding is their only bedding carried in the United States and solely by Anthro, Lazybones carries many different designs in Australia. Hopefully they'll one day be available here!

It's beginning to look like Fall!

Is it just me or has this weekend really flown by? This past week the heat was on, but we woke up to thunderstorms and rain on Saturday morning. It's hard to believe as it's usually not this cool in mid September! As much as I love warm temps, I can't say that this fall weather hasn't been a welcomed relief!

I have some fun posts this week- from my adventure at Preston Castle, to a company in Australia that makes gorgeous bedding which is carried in Anthropologie! Plus much more :) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

*As for this photo of the grapes, I took it a nearby vineyard in Northern California in August, shortly before harvest. I love the fall colors on the leaves, it reminds me of Thanksgiving!

Bringing NYC Fashion Week To YOU!

If it was up to me I'd be in NYC September 10 - 17th for Fall Fashion Week. Come to think of it, I'd take all of you with me! Sorry I can't follow through, but it's the thought that counts, right?!
